- If you went off-plan for a run and came back with a .fit file on your watch, your options used to be typing in the distance and time by hand or letting the run vanish from your history entirely. Neither is what I'd call a training log. Now you upload the file from your run or from the runs page and it's logged: distance, moving time, splits, heart rate, elevation gain, all pulled straight off what your watch recorded.
- I built this to never look at your GPS coordinates. Distance comes from the cumulative distance your watch already calculates per record, not from reading your route and throwing it away after. Practical upside: a treadmill file with zero GPS fix imports exactly the same way a road run does, because the parser was never looking for a location in the first place.
- Upload the same file twice and it tells you it's already in there instead of duplicating the run. Delete a run you imported and the heart rate and elevation numbers go with it, not left orphaned somewhere. And if you hand it a cycling file, it says so rather than quietly logging a bike ride as running mileage, which would make your training load numbers lie to you.
